Dates and registration for summer 2020 Young People’s Theater Workshops will be announced in the spring. Have questions in the meantime? Contact Education and Volunteer Manager Megan Proft at

Young People’s Theater Workshop (often referred to as YPTW) is in its 30th year of educational theater programming. YPTW offers experiences in creative drama and performance. Starting with a given theme, each age group works with a director to create, rehearse and perform an original script. These unique scripts meld together for a fun and exceptional show. Most mornings, students also attend theater arts and dance classes. Past Young People’s Theater Workshops have included such themes as Making Waves, Something Wicked this Way Comes, Passages and Break Down the Wall(s). The Young People’s Theater Workshop culminates with live performances for the public on the last three days. Participants should bring a bag lunch. Scholarships are available. YPTW is a tuition based educational theater program.

YPTW is open to students entering grades 3-12. Students are placed in groups up to 14 students according to their age. All students come together for morning and end-of-day meetings.

Who will be working with the students? Bob Gregory-Bjorklund and Beth Breiland manage and lead the program onsite. YPTW Staff includes theater artists, classroom teachers and highly-qualified theater majors.

YPTW will run in two sessions – one in June and one in July. Specific dates will be announced in spring 2020.

The program runs 9:15 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Performances are typically held 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. on Friday during the third week of the program.

The program has run at several locations in Northfield but typically is held at Arcadia Charter School. Confirmation on location will be announced in spring 2020.

Performances are held at the same location of the program.
