Youth Soloist Concert
The deadline is October 10 for submitting a 3-5 minute recording for consideration to participate in the Youth Soloist Concert on March 11, 2018.
Interested youth are invited to register for the Youth Soloist Concert competition. More details about the process can be found in the Youth Soloist Letter and Registration material. Questions may be directed to CVRO’s conductor, Paul Niemisto, at niemisto@stolaf.edu.
Concert Criteria
- Students can be of any age prior to high school graduation and must be permanent residents of the state of MN. Preference will be given to students from within the Cannon Valley Region.
- Students must be receiving private instruction and have had some experience in public performance. The private instruction can be provided by the public school ensemble director.
- The competition is open to all instruments and voice for which repertoire with orchestra accompaniment is available.
- Students need to prepare a concert solo (such as a concerto movement) with orchestral accompaniment known to be available. The CVRO conductor, Paul Niemisto, is happy to offer suggestions on repertoire choices that could be good for programming; should you need assistance, please contact prior to submitting registration at niemisto@stolaf.edu.
- By the March concert, it is advised that the piece is memorized, but is not a requirement.
- This “Young Soloists’ Concert” may feature up to 5 youth soloists.
