Have you ever wanted to take a dance class, but feel intimidated by the vocabulary used in class? Then this introductory workshop is for you! Throughout this two-hour workshop, we will learn the basic vocabulary of classical ballet. Even if you aren’t interested in pursuing ballet but are curious about the French and Italian words behind the movement, this class will give you a solid foundation to understand how we talk about dance in multiple styles. Ballroom, jazz, modern and musical theater all use language and movement grounded in ballet basics. During our time together, you will gain a basic ballet vocabulary as we cover primary foot and arm positions, barre foundations and beginning level center and across the floor work. We will leave time at the end for Q&A about the dance program at The Guild and any other dance related questions you might have. Come prepared to move, learn and have a great time!
