God Girl

God Girl, by Minnesota playwright Kristine Holmgren, premiered at the History Theater in 2014; this powerful play explores the hard work, humor, harassment, and heartbreak experienced by the first brave women who dared smash the stained glass ceiling of Protestantism.

Mishia Edwards is grateful and excited to director for the NAG again. Previous directing experiences with the NAG include Little Women The Musical, Proof, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Crimes of The Heart, Little Shop of Horrors, It’s A Wonderful Life, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Mishia also works with The Chameleon Theatre Circle where she has served as a Board and Committee Member.  Additionally, she directs the St. Olaf Summer Theatre Camp.


Kristine M. Holgren was one of the first women ordained in the Minnesota Presbyterian Church.   She went on to become the first female Chaplin at Macalester College in St. Paul.  She has served as Associate Pastor of the Congregational Church in Northfield,  and as Pastor of Laurel Presbyterian Church in Hager City, WI and of Grace-Trinity Church in Minneapolis.  Upon retirement, Kristine became a professional playwright.   The Northfield Arts Guild Theater produced Kristine’s play Paper Daddy previously and is thrilled to be featuring her work again with God Girl.
