Set sail with this classic comedy that boasts one of the most famous patter songs in musical theatre history. On the coast of Cornwall, a band of tenderhearted pirates celebrates the coming of age of Frederic, who was mistakenly apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday. Now, Frederic has vowed to devote his life to the extermination of piracy – until a ludicrous leap year snag threatens to keep him apprenticed to the pirates for life! Throw in a bevy of beauties, a brash Pirate King, the delightfully stuffy Major-General Stanley and you’ve got an endearing evening of fun for the entire family.

Directed by Bob Gregory-Bjorklund
with musical direction by Daniel Kallman and choreography by Shari Setchell

What did the critics say?

strikes a perfect balance of storytelling, fine singing, physical comedy and outright silliness. “  -Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Bob Gregory BjorklandBob Gregory-Bjorklund is known in Northfield for his work at ARTech Charter School, Northfield High School and the Northfield Arts Guild, directing, teaching and producing a variety of productions since 1996. Recent work includes Pippin, West Side Story, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Fiddler on the Roof, Arts for Martin, and the NAG’s Young People’s Theater Workshop. Longtime audience members might remember Bob’s production of H.M.S. Pinafore in 2004; the sublime G&S music and silliness will again be in good hands.  What most community members don’t know is that, prior to his life in Northfield, Bob made his living for twenty-five years singing. With wife Ann, he produced, directed and performed for state and national corporations and associations. He also led four USO tours of Germany, Alaska and the Pacific Rim.
