Unusually Useful Animal Vessels! Clay Camp

How much fun would it be to eat ice cream with an elephant (his belly is a bowl!), or store treasures inside a turtle’s shell? How about an animal portrait plant pot? And, of course, we could all use a mug to drink cocoa from with a handle that’s really a creature’s tail! Join us for an exciting week of hand-building clay projects that will become everyday favorites! This class is offered through Community Education. Register for Clay Camp!

Found Object Art Lab! Art Camp

It’s a wonder what you can make with a stash of “leftovers” and “recyclables!” Washi tape, tissue paper, and scraps of cloth become abstract art masterpieces. Paper tubes become towers and adorable owls, water bottles become flowers and jelly fish, the materials and possibilities are endless. Side effects of this camp are extreme creativity and seeing new uses for everyday objects!

Magical Creature Houses – Clay Camp

Get your hands messy with clay camp this summer! Create your own set of Magic Creature houses (fairies, elves, etc.) using hand-building construction and adding details to decorate your homes. This class is offered through Community Education. Register for Clay Camp!

Terrific Techniques Mash-Up Lab! Art Camp

Take all of those art skills you’ve been introduced to in the past and mix them together in a “mash up” to create new art styles! Let’s weave a watercolor, splatter paint a geometric design, collage a painting, and more. Once we’re done, making art will never be the same!

Poems in the Outdoors – Poetry Camp

Northfield’s Poet Laureate, Rob Hardy, will guide young poets and writers through finding inspiration from the outdoors to use for writing poems. Different styles of poetry will be explored as the group takes walking “field trips” to locations in and around downtown Northfield. Students will also explore read and discuss different poems that are part of Northfield’s Sidewalk Poetry program. The week will end with a poetry reading at the end of the week from 11 am-12 pm.

Food for Thought, Food as Art! Art Camp

Using a variety of art mediums, we will explore the two and three-dimensional features of the food we eat. Inspired by Pop-artists such as Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, and Wayne Thiebaud, we will make mini sculptures, prints, drawings and paintings that will make you crave more (food and art!)

It’s Rhyme Time in the Clay Studio – Clay Camp

It’s a new rhyming theme each day for the projects we’ll be building by hand using a variety of basic techniques and simple tools. It will be so much fun to make a fox and a box, or a frog on a log.
