DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to take a dance class\, but feel intimidated by the vocabulary used in class? Then this introductory workshop is for you! Throughout this two-hour workshop\, we will learn the basic vocabulary of classical ballet. Even if you aren’t interested in pursuing ballet but are curious about the French and Italian words behind the movement\, this class will give you a solid foundation to understand how we talk about dance in multiple styles. Ballroom\, jazz\, modern and musical theater all use language and movement grounded in ballet basics. During our time together\, you will gain a basic ballet vocabulary as we cover primary foot and arm positions\, barre foundations and beginning level center and across the floor work. We will leave time at the end for Q&A about the dance program at The Guild and any other dance related questions you might have. Come prepared to move\, learn and have a great time!

The original Cannon Valley Regional Orchestra 40th Anniversary celebration concert had to be postponed due to the pandemic and has now been rescheduled for this November. \nThe concert will feature the premier performance of the Minnesota Suite\, a piece by Northfield composer Reinaldo Moya. Made possible by a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council\, the work was inspired by the landscape and geography of the state of Minnesota. Also featured on the concert program is the Sibelius Violin Concerto\, which will be performed by Francesca Anderegg\, Associate Professor of Violin at St. Olaf. \nThe concert will be performed twice– On Saturday\, Nov. 6 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield\, and on Sunday\, Nov. 7 at the Cathedral of Our Merciful Savior in Faribault.
