SUMMARY:The Matchmaker
DESCRIPTION:Before the world fell in love with Hello Dolly!\, there was The Matchmaker. Cunning\, crafty and thoroughly modern\, Dolly Gallagher Levi knows a good catch when she sees one. When the wealthy Horace Vandergelder hires her to find him a wife\, Dolly doesn’t need to look far to find his perfect mate. The Matchmaker is an uproarious romp that reminds us to embrace the unexpected in our lives.

Our workshops are about connecting to the people who you’re performing with and building confidence on stage. This workshop is relevant for actors\, dancers\, performers of any kind\, or anyone looking to explore their creativity as a moving body. \nat the Guild Art Studio 304 Division Street South in Northfield\, MN \nClass is $25

SUMMARY:Native Gardens
DESCRIPTION:May 6-15\, 2022 \nGardens and cultures clash\, turning friendly neighbors into feuding enemies in this hilarious comedy of good intentions and bad manners. Native Gardens’ playwright\, Karen Zacarías\, is a core founder of the Latinx Theatre Commons – a large national organization of artists seeking to update the American narrative with the stories of Latinos. Pablo\, a high-powered lawyer\, and doctoral candidate Tania\, his very pregnant wife\, are realizing the American dream when they purchase a house next door to community stalwarts Virginia and Frank. But a disagreement over a long-standing fence line soon spirals into an all-out war of taste\, class\, privilege\, and entitlement. The hilarious results guarantee no one comes out smelling like a rose. Cincinnati.com describes the show as “skillful comedy… bright and witty and clever.”.

SUMMARY:Bright Star
DESCRIPTION:March 4-20\, 2022 \nInspired by a true story and featuring the Tony®-nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell\, Broadway’s Bright Star tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II\, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection\, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past—and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. With beautiful melodies and powerfully moving characters\, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion. An uplifting theatrical journey that holds you tightly in its grasp\, Bright Star is as refreshingly genuine as it is daringly hopeful. \nDirected by Mishia Burns Edwards

SUMMARY:Deathtrap
DESCRIPTION:OCTOBER 22 – 31\, 2021 \nIra Levin’s Deathtrap is an ingeniously constructed play that offers a rare and skillful blending of two priceless theatrical ingredients – gasp-inducing thrills and spontaneous laughter. Comfortably ensconced in his charming Connecticut home\, Sidney Bruhl\, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers\, is struggling to overcome a dry spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a nearby college—a thriller that Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway smash. Sidney’s plan\, devised with his wife’s help\, is to offer collaboration to the student for co-credit. Or is it? Deathtrap provides twists and turns of devilish cleverness\, and offers hilariously sudden shocks in such abundance that audiences will be spellbound until the very last moment. “If you care to assassinate yourself with laughter\, try Deathtrap.” —TIME Magazine. \nDirected by Susan Carlson.
