Audiences will experience a series of interlaced performances of theater\, dance\, visual installations\, and digital media taking place at several locations throughout Northfield. This performance event is inspired by the history\, architecture\, and unique community of Northfield. Koplowitz is collaborating with St. Olaf and Carleton Colleges and the greater Northfield community where the spirit of history\, industry\, and scholarship thrive and will engage students\, alumni\, and professors from both colleges\, in addition to members of specific Northfield institutions and businesses. The Northfield Experience will be a unique\, one of a kind performance event and experience\, not to be missed! \nThis is a progressive venue production. Most locations are within walking distance\, but an ADA bus is available upon request.\nThe production begins at The Grand Event Center\, 316 Washington Street\, Northfield\, MN. \n  \nCarleton and St. Olaf students may attend the 6pm Thursday night dress rehearsal for free with student id. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThank you to Northfield Economic Development Authority (EDA) for their support. \n \nThis project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.  To find out more about how National Endowmanet for the Arts grants impact indiduals and communities\, visit 222.arts.gov. \n\nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Comprised of a series of inter-laced performances of theater\, dance\, visual installations\, and digital media\, this performance event will be inspired by the history\, architecture\, and unique community of Northfield. Koplowitz is excited to work and collaborate with St. Olaf and Carleton Colleges and the greater Northfield community where the spirit of history\, industry\, and scholarship still thrive. The Northfield Experience will engage students\, alumni\, professors and Curriculum from both colleges\, in addition to members of specific Northfield institutions and businesses. It aims not only to create a unique artistic experience\, but to bring together several academic and public communities united towards the development and creation of this work. An intended outcome is that all involved parties will be more closely aligned and acquainted following this shared collaboration. \nThis is a progressive venue production. The Guild encourages all – beginners or established artists – to audition for roles and to volunteer for technical positions. \npart of our 2017-18 Striking Conversations Theater Season\nDirector/Music Director:  Eric Parrish \nAudition Dates and Times:\nMonday\, May 14 and Tuesday\, May 15\nWomen:  6:30 pm (Plan to be potentially be called back to match with the men around 8:30.)\nMen:  7:30 pm (We’ll start when the women are through.) \nNo need to register for auditions in advance. \nAudition Location:\nNorthfield Arts Guild Theater\, 411 Third Street W\, Northfield \nAudition Requirements: \n\nActors should prepare 36-bars of an uptempo contemporary/rock style ballad–doesn’t have to be musical theater.  If this doesn’t demonstrate your ability to belt\, the director is open to hearing anything that does.\n Bring sheet music for the accompanist.\n\nRehearsal information:  \n\nRehearsals are tentatively scheduled to begin May 29th\, for sure by June 4th.  Tech week begins July 20/21 and mandatory dress rehearsals begin July 23.\n\nPerformance Dates\, Times and Location: \n\n July 27 opening.  Fri-Sun\, July 27-29 and Thurs-Sun\, August 2-5\, 2018\nThursday\, Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30pm\, Sundays at 2pm\nNorthfield Arts Guild Theater\, 411 Third Street W\, Northfield\n\nSummary of show: \nNext to Normal\, with Music by Tom Kitt and Book and Lyrics by Brian Yorkey\, is a contemporary sing-through musical that explores how one suburban household copes with crisis. With provocative lyrics and an electrifying score\, this 2010 Pulitzer Prize winner shows how far two parents will go to keep themselves sane and their family’s world intact. \nCharacter breakdown: \nDIANA\nDelusional\, bipolar\, and depressed. The sexiness of her yesterdays has only recently begun to soften. She is determined to make her family perfect but is tortured by a death in the family.\nGender: Female\nAble to play age: 40 to 45\nVocal range top: F#5 – Vocal range bottom: G \nGABE\nDiana & Dan’s son. Dashing\, athletic\, and bright. He is a playful man and everything a mother could imagine.\nGender:  Male\nAble to play age: 18 to 21\nVocal range top: C5 – Vocal range bottom: B2 \nDAN\nDiana’s husband. He is handsome and genuine. An accomplished pianist and hardworking student\, her struggles are exacerbated by her mother’s behavior.
