DESCRIPTION:Open House with our Annual Report\nOct 11 | 5:30-6:30 pm\nThe community is invited to an open house where you can enjoy art on every floor of the Guild\, along with a special members/public report at 6 pm outlining the Guild’s accomplishments from our recently completed 2018-2019 fiscal year. As an added plus\, the art studio will premier artist Wendell Arneson’s eight painting series inspired by the recent Northfield Shares a Dinner event.  \nThis open house is immediately followed by the Artist Reception from 6:30-8:30 pm for our Foundations and Inspired Experimentation exhibitions; Artist Talks at 7 pm. Refreshments will be served. \n  \nArtist Receptions\nOct 11 | 6:30-8:30 pm\, Artist Talks | 7 pm\nFoundations\nSept 6 – Oct 26\, 2019\nIn the Guild’s Main Gallery \nFoundations is our first exhibition celebrating our 60th Exhibition Season: Looking Back\, Looking Forward!\n\nThis exhibition features the current work of long-time Guild Members Wendell Arneson\, Mac Gimse\, Chris Holmquist\, Tim Lloyd\, Riki Kölbl Nelson\, Jan Shoger\, and Frederick Somers. These artists have helped to establish\, build and sustain the Guild in multiple capacities between 35 to 60 years. \nInspired Experimentation\nSept 6 – Dec 31\, 2019 \nIn the Guild’s Up Gallery. \nAn exhibition of artworks by adult students in the Guild’s Painting at Parkview class\, which explore self-directed concepts and techniques led by long-time Guild member\, and educator Riki Kölbl Nelson. \nFeaturing works by Allison Albright\, Kathy Bjerke\, Maryellen Bowe\, Lois Godfrey\, Nancy Johnson\, Tom Kaiser\, Maryann Kaul\, Dawn E. DESCRIPTION:FREE WORKSHOP: The Anatomy of an Artist Statement \nCorks & Pints Wine Bar | Tap House\, 22 Fourth St NE\, Faribault \nTuesday\, October 29\, 6-8 pm (doors open at 5:30 pm)\nHave you ever struggled with drafting an artist statement? The Guild and Paradise Center for the Arts are here to help!  This collaborative offering is OPEN TO ARTISTS IN ALL DISCIPLINES\, is sponsored by Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC)\, and features panelists with experience writing successful artist statements will share an overview of tips when writing an artist statement. \nPanelists:\nPaula Granquist is a writer working on a novel\, short stories\, and essays. She hosts ArtZany! on 95.1 FM The One \nJoy Riggs is an award-winning writer\, editor\, lecturer\, and author of Crackerjack Bands & Hometown Boosters.  \nDanny Saathoff is a professional visual artist\, jewelry designer and fabricator as well as an instructor in Art at Carleton College. \n  \nFollowing the group presentation portion\, attendees who’ve pre-registered\, can participate in a 10-minute breakout review session for one-on-one help with their artist statement. Participants in the breakout sessions are invited to email in a sample artist statement the week before the workshop; RSVPs are required for participation in the review sessions with a panelist. \n  \n  \nRefreshments and snacks will be available during the workshop for attendees in both parts; we encourage networking while artists are waiting for their session with a panelist.
