SUMMARY:Artist Reception: The Northfield (Exhibition) Experience
DESCRIPTION:The Northfield (Exhibition) Experience\n  \nPlease join us to learn more about the work and meet the artists at the Opening Reception on Friday\, April 20 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm with remarks from the Artistic Director of The Northfield Experience\, Stephan Koplowitz at 7:30 pm.\nThe Guild presents The Northfield (Exhibition) Experience which has been specifically curated in conjunction with The Northfield Experience\, April 18 through May 12\, 2018\, in the Main Gallery of the Center for the Arts\,304 Division Street South\, Northfield.  This exhibition includes paintings\, photographs\, textiles\, collage and ceramics commissioned from nearly 30 area artists. \nThis exhibition is particularly unique in that it features work generated by each artist’s conceptual vision around an arts event before the event occurs. This exhibition will give viewers a unique entry point into the seven sites being animated as part of The Northfield Experience. This event is a promenade performance in which the audience will take part in a progressive walking tour that begins at The Grand Event Center\, Friday-Sunday\, May 4 – 6\, 2018.  The Northfield (Exhibition) Experience  offers its own visual journey of both the project and of the city of Northfield. As part of the complete experience\, viewers are invited to visit the gallery exhibition both before and after the May performances for differing perspectives. \nThis project is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. \nThis project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.\n  \n2017-18 Gallery Season sponsored by:

DESCRIPTION:Topic for April 26: Preparing for Art Festivals\nYou asked for opportunities to grow as artists\, and we listened!  \nMany artists are looking for new ways to show their work\, and will be participating in outdoor art festivals this year.  For juried festivals\, what do successful artists do to get accepted into the festival?  Once you’re in\, what makes an effective booth set up?  And more… \nWe’re here to help!  A panel of experts: Patsy Dew\, Angie Ekern and Heather Lawrenz will lead a conversation focused around preparing for art festivals. During this conversation attendees are encouraged to ask questions and share their tips and experiences. \nInterested in attending? Space is limited\, please reserve your seat by emailing heather@northfieldartsguild.org or calling (507) 645-8877. \n  \nJoin us for our monthly Artist Conversations!  This is a time (every 4th Thursday from 6-7:30 pm) for emerging and professional artists to gather in a small group setting to discuss topics relevant to visual artists.  These gatherings are free and open to the public. \nEach conversation will focus on one topic such as: \n\nHow to regularly show your work\nHow to create a cohesive body of work\nSocial Media for artists\nBookkeeping for artists\nWebsites for artists\nPricing your artwork\n\nHave a topic to suggest? Please email your idea to heather@northfieldartsguild.org
