SUMMARY:Project Purple Door Auditions: The Prince and the Pauper
DESCRIPTION:We pleased to announce our 2020 spring Project Purple Door production! Join us for this stylized and comical adaptation of Mark Twain’s classic tale. You might think you know the story – but there’s a twist in the telling! The boy prince and girl pauper exchange places for a time\, experiencing how the other lives\, but when the King dies\, the true prince must be crowned. \nAuditions will be held 4-6 pm on Jan. 7 or 8. You must audition and be cast to register for this program. Students should prepare to a short poem or nursery rhyme to recite at the audition. Parents\, please send along a calendar of any rehearsal conflict dates/times to the auditions and interviews. To scheduled your audition\, fill out the form below. \nSIGN UP FOR AN AUDITION \nPERFORMANCES\nThe Prince and the Pauper performs at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater March 13-15. DESCRIPTION:Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world…\nOur 2019 fall PDYT production is Matilda\, the Musical! Winner of 55 Awards\, including Best Musical\, Matilda celebrates a precocious\, young girl who loves to read. Through the gift of telekinesis\, she overcomes atrocious obstacles caused by her family and school\, and helps her teacher to reclaim her life. \nMatilda\, the Musical performances are Nov. 22-24 & Nov. 29-Dec. 1. Friday performances are at 7 p.m.\, Saturday and Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. All performances are at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater. \nAll performances of Matilda\, the Musical are SOLD OUT.  There will be eight jump seats available one hour prior to each show at the Guild Theater box office\, on a first-come\, first-served basis. ***If you are not able to use your tickets\, please let us know so we can make them available to others.***

The Guild and Paradise Center for the Arts are here to help!  This collaborative offering is OPEN TO ARTISTS IN ALL DISCIPLINES\, is sponsored by Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC)\, and features panelists with experience writing successful artist statements will share an overview of tips when writing an artist statement. \nPanelists:\nPaula Granquist is a writer working on a novel\, short stories\, and essays. She hosts ArtZany! on 95.1 FM The One \nJoy Riggs is an award-winning writer\, editor\, lecturer\, and author of Crackerjack Bands & Hometown Boosters.  \nDanny Saathoff is a professional visual artist\, jewelry designer and fabricator as well as an instructor in Art at Carleton College. \n  \nFollowing the group presentation portion\, attendees who’ve pre-registered\, can participate in a 10-minute breakout review session for one-on-one help with their artist statement. SUMMARY:"Baggage" Capstone Event
DESCRIPTION:Baggage: Immigrants\n\nby Isabella Rose\nAugust 1-31\, 2019\nIsabella Rose’s solo exhibition is a snapshot of her long-term project featuring mixed media collages inside suitcases interpreting personal interviews. This series features the life stories of three immigrants. She received a SEMAC Emerging Artist grant for this project. \nSEMAC Capstone Event: Friday August 2\, 6:30 pm \n  \nRose’s art explores what makes people who they are\, the parts we hide and the parts we share. The parts of people that seem inconsequential interest her\, the parts that are not perfect or pretty\, but add up to make them whole. Through her art she wants to share these facets of people unprocessed and raw. Her desire is to create unease by revealing the beauty in the imperfect and broken. She hopes this unease leads to reflection\, connection\, and empathy. \nIsabella Rose was born and raised in Northfield\, MN and graduated from the Northfield ALC in 2018. She has worked with numerous Minnesota artists in Northfield and the Twin Cities and currently lives in St Paul. DESCRIPTION:Northfield High School’s Honors Art Show:\nTied Together\nMay 15-June 8\, 2019\n \nPlease join us for an Artist Reception on Friday\, May 17 from 7 – 9 pm\, with Artist Talks at 7:30 pm.  Refreshments will be served. \nThe Northfield Arts Guild is proud to host this annual spring exhibition of Northfield High School Honors Art Students. This year\, the exhibition features 20 amazing junior and senior student artists: Elizabeth Acheson\, Grace Acheson\, Kate Adams\, Isabel Aylin\, Ann Beimers\, Kate Boland\, Abby Borene\, Creegan Croone\, Anika Guggisberg\, Willa Kmoch\, Emily Liebl\, Athziri Rodriguez\, Celia Meagher\, Addie Nelson\, Audrey Pagel\, Julia Radtke\, Brooke Schultz\, Liv Sorenson\, Katie Travaille and Alice Wykes. They have each worked tirelessly to prepare cohesive and professional bodies of thematic work.  This year’s group includes illustrators\, painters\, potters\, sculptors\, mixed media specialists\, and computer illustrators. \n  \n2018-19 Gallery Season sponsored by: \n  \n\n\nHonors Art Show supported by:

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a One-Day Exhibition of paintings by Max Lyonga \n\n\n\n\nOpen House\nSaturday\, April 27\n\n\n11 am-4 pm – Artist Talk at 1 pm\nReception: 2:30-4:30 pm\, refreshments provided\n\n\n\nThe Guild is proud to present an exhibition of paintings by the Cameroonian contemporary artist Max Lyonga in collaboration with the Center for Community and Civic Engagement at Carleton College\, where Lyonga is currently a visiting Artist-in-Residence. \n\n\nCome enjoy a rare chance to meet this international artist and experience his “mokwe” style paintings – a mixture of abstraction with impressionism. All are welcome at this free event!

DESCRIPTION:THE WIZARD OF OZ IS SOLD OUT.   We welcome you to come an hour prior to performance time  to try for jumpseats (backless stools on the end of the rows) or for turned in tickets.\nFebruary 22 – March 3\, 2019\na Purple Door Youth Theater production \nby Rochelle Norbert\nJourney over the rainbow to a magical kingdom where four unlikely friends discover wisdom\, compassion\, courage\, and the way home. \nWhen a tornado rips through Kansas\, Dorothy and her dog\, Toto\, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard\, and en route they meet a Scarecrow who needs a brain\, a Tinman who is missing a heart\, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage.
