SUMMARY:The Living Body Workshop by Virginia Twins (Gr. 9-12)
DESCRIPTION:Join Twin Cities performers Virginia Twins for a workshop about attentions\, listening and playful experimentation. With the same theater exercises that we use to create our shows\, we will play and imagine together and practice looking at the world in a slightly different way. We believe that theater should be silly and honest\, and while performing can be vulnerable\, it can also be great fun! Our workshops are about connecting to the people who you’re performing with and building confidence on stage. This workshop is relevant for actors\, dancers\, performers of any kind\, or anyone looking to explore their creativity as a moving body. \nat the Guild Art Studio 304 Division Street South in Northfield\, MN \nClass is $25

SUMMARY:Jumpstart Spring - Ceramics Class
DESCRIPTION:It’s been a long winter\, but spring is just around the corner! In this two-session workshop we will make ceramic vessels to welcome new sprouts and flowers. In the first session we will make a planter (or even two) to add color and life to your house or yard. In the second session we will make a bud vase and a tulipiere\, a special vase for tulips (adaptable for other flowers too.) We can use any extra clay and your imaginations to make unique plant markers or garden guardians. Catch spring fever and join us from your home for this on-line workshop with your teacher/guide\, Marion Angelica. Designed for youth 14+ and adults.

SUMMARY:All School Art Show: Creativity is Essential! opens
DESCRIPTION:ALL SCHOOL ART SHOW:\nCREATIVITY IS ESSENTIAL\nFEB 11-MARCH 6\, 2021\n  \n\nEvery year the Northfield art teachers curate the All School Art Show to celebrate the incredible artistic talent that is bubbling up in the young people of our community. This show has been an annual celebration at the Northfield Arts Guild for the past three decades.  The 2020-21 school year has been anything but typical.  But even in the midst of uncertainty and less-than-ideal learning environments\, the students have continued to experiment\, grow\, and achieve as artists. \nMuch of the artwork that has been created this year is not in teachers’ actual hands. Rather\, it exists in digital files submitted by students working remotely. From the student digital collection and from the teacher’s own digital archives\, each art teacher has selected four images that best summarized their collective experience during this unprecedented year.  These images form a quilt of ideas that represent the struggles and successes of teaching art remotely.  These images will also\, one day\, allow future educators to understand some of what it was like to teach and learn through a global pandemic. \nIn a typical year nearly 1000 pieces of student art would fill the Guild’s gallery space\, and our community would gather in person to celebrate and share the students’ accomplishments.  Although this years’ show is different\, the hope is that it will nevertheless create the same sense of pride in our community of art educators and the art students who continued to create even in the midst of vast turmoil and separation. This show will demonstrate that even in the middle of a pandemic our community’s creative spirit was able to create something beautiful together. \n\n \nE-magination Celebration (Feb 27\, 11 am-1 pm)\non the Guild’s Facebook and YouTube pages \nThe Guild invites our community to E-magination Celebration\, a free day of online programming including Gallery Tours\, Arts Making and performances from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday\, February 27\, 2021.
