DESCRIPTION:Topic for February 22: Writing an Effective Artist Statement\nYou asked for opportunities to grow as artists\, and we listened!\nArts Guild Executive Director\, Tim Peterson will lead a conversation focused on useful guidelines for writing an effective artist statement. In addition to his past arts administrative and curatorial positions\, Peterson taught this subject for three years as part of a Fine Arts Professional Practice course at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. \nThe conversation will cover: \n\n\nConveying your overall artistic practice\nDescribing your most current or in-process project(s)\nAvoiding jargon\, empty phrases and common pitfalls\nKeeping it brief\n\n\nDuring this conversation attendees are encouraged to ask questions and (optional) bring a sample artist statement to edit.  \nInterested in attending? Please reserve your seat by emailing heather@northfieldartsguild.org or calling (507) 645-8877. \n  \nJoin us for our monthly Artist Conversations!  This is a time (every 4th Thursday from 6-8 pm) for emerging and professional artists to gather in a small group setting to discuss topics relevant to visual artists.  These gatherings are free and open to the public\, but as space is limited\, please reserve your seat by emailing heather@northfieldartsguild.org or calling (507) 645-8877. \n  \nEach conversation will focus on one topic such as: \n\nHow to price your work\nHow to regularly show your work\nHow to create a cohesive body of work\nSocial Media for artists\nBookkeeping for artists\n\nHave a topic to suggest? Please email your idea to heather@northfieldartsguild.org
