RESCHEDULED FOR JULY! Ninety-five percent of people’s mental activity isn’t fully conscious. How do we react to art? What imagery grabs us most? Come hear Dan Hill, author of First Blush: People’s Intuitive Reactions to Famous Art, speak about the groundbreaking and longest ever conducted study that used eye-tracking technology to discover how we take in art. You’ll also hear about how seven core emotions are expressed when we view art. This inside scoop is not only fascinating, but can inform anyone creating portraits, both printing and photographing.
Thursday, July 30| 6-7:30 pm
Guild Member: $4.50 | Non-Member: $5

PAINTING AT PARKVIEW
Part open studio, part instruction, part experimentation, this class will meet your individual needs based on your creative goals. Riki Kölbl Nelson, an artist and arts educator, has taught students aged 9 to 90. She provides exercises designed to stretch the skills and creativity of the participants. You’ll be part of a facilitated group, gaining feedback and encouragement to take your art making to the next level for both beginning and advanced students. You can choose your preferred medium to work in – watercolors, acrylic, oils, pastels, or color pencils – and purchase your own materials for the class. This class can also be helpful for those who wish to add artwork to their memoirs. Some materials for the students will be on hand at the first session. Instructor: Riki Kolbl Nelson
In Drawing I, you will develop your observational drawing skills through instruction, drawing exercises and directed practice. Instructor Matt Bowers believes that all people have what it takes to draw! This class is geared for beginners but all levels are welcome. Instructor: Matt Bowers
FIGURE DRAWING WORKSHOP
NEW CLASS! In these workshops, you’ll build on your figural drawing skills through practice, instruction and feedback while learning new techniques specific to figure drawing. In the two-hour experience, you’ll get to sample what figure drawing is all about. In the four-hour experience, you’ll have a chance to dive deeper and explore the relationship between lines, shapes, paper plane edges and negative space that inform your subject. You’ll be invited to participate in group or one-on-one critiques. Class will include clothed models. Register for one or both! Instructor: Kate Douglas
PORTRAIT DRAWING WORKSHOP
NEW CLASS! Learn and practice the skills of portraiture. In the two-hour experience, you’ll explore proportion, shading and line. In the four-hour experience, go further with your portrait drawing by using observational skills, specific exercises and more advanced techniques. Please bring an enlarged (8.5”x11”) photo of a face to work from. Register for one or both! Instructor: Kate Douglas
CREATING COMMUNITY CLUB
Creating Community Club (CCC) is an art club for young adults on the autism spectrum. Create art collaboratively and individually this fall with CCC!
