THROWBACK CLASSES! In honor of the Guild’s 60th anniversary, keep an eye out for “throwback classes,” featuring art forms that were historically in vogue since 1959. Relive and art form gone-by, join in the nostalgia or experience something new!

Picassos Club

Make your own art inspired by the great Spanish and Latin American masters like Picasso, Velázquez, Dalí, Gaudi, Miró, Rivera, Botero and others! Individual creativity is highly encouraged in this class, where you’ll use a wide variety of techniques and supplies. Younger learners are encouraged to register with a friend. Grades K to 8.

Anime Club Kickoff Party

If you’re a fan of anime and manga style, this club is the one for you! Join the Northfield Public Library at the Guild for the fall kickoff of their Anime Club. Cast Metal Small Sculptures, Amulets & Jewelry Workshop for Teens

NEW CLASS! In this hands-on, one-of-a-kind creative and exciting cast metal class, you will carve an original design into a cuttlefish bone to create negative space. Then you’ll fill it with lead-free pewter to create your original metal casting. You’ll experience pouring metal, finishing with hand and power tools, and adding optional colored ink. From there you’ll have a piece you can mount on a base, create into jewelry or a keychain, or just toss in your pocket. Ages 13-18.

Tie Dye

THROWBACK CLASS! What is more 60s and 70s than tie-dye? Part of the “stepping out and rebelling culture,” tie-dye shirts, headbands and skirts became cultural icons! Tie-dye has returned a few times and is even making an appearance now. Come dive into the dye in creative ways. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own 100% cotton pieces to dye.

Artistic Expression with Roald Dahl & Quinten Blake

THROWBACK CLASS! Explore the work of two iconic artists, Roald Dahl and Quinten Blake, through their work, style and collaboration. You will explore the work of these renowned artists through writing and drawing in their styles. Discover at the way Dahl and Blake approached their craft, and examine why Blake’s work was the perfect compliment to Dahl’s. All skill levels are welcomed. All participants will received one free ticket to Purple Door Youth Theater’s production of Matilda, the Musical! Ages 10+.

Vintage Fabric Patterns of the 50s, 60s & 70s

THROWBACK CLASS! Explore the beauty of vintage fabric patterns while learning how to screen print. You’ll walk through the basics of screen printing and hear about the notable themes and designs used in mid-century textiles. Using paper stencils and other simple techniques, you will create your very own retro inspired bandana and canvas tote bag! No previous screen printing experience required. Ages 13+.

Creating Community Club

Creating Community Club (CCC) is an art club for young adults on the autism spectrum. Create art collaboratively and individually this fall with CCC! This program prioritizes social connections made through the arts while simultaneously providing opportunities to stretch artistic technique and provide an outlet for personal growth and creative expression.
