Registration now open!

To register for a class click on the class name or session title. Completing the class registration page will create a shopping cart so you can continue to register for as many classes as you like! If you’re a Guild member, don’t forget to register and sign in to receive your 10% class discount on other classes. In addition to our regular youth and adult classes, the Guild offers a wide variety of visual arts, clay, theater and dance camps over the summer for youth entering grades 1-4 and 5-8. Each age range has a morning and afternoon option and there is a supervised lunch hour if those who would like to bring their lunch and stay from noon to 1 p.m. (please indicate if you will be staying for lunch when registering). We hope you’ll find many great options of camps and classes this summer at the Guild!

June 18 – 22

Magical Creature Houses — Clay Camp

Get your hands messy with clay this summer! Create your own set of magical creature houses (for fairies, elves, etc.) using hand-building construction and adding details to decorate. Entering grades 1-4.

Creative Nature — Art Camp

NEW CAMP! Let nature inspire you! In this camp, you’ll learn to appreciate and respect the natural world through art. Create botanical prints, make mini sprout houses, explore bubble art, observe colors and do many more nature-based art projects! All your projects will be documented in your own DIY Field Guide. Entering grades 1-4.

You Spin Me Right Round — Clay Camp

Learn the basics of throwing on the wheel! You’ll learn how to center the clay and use the wheel to make mugs, bowls and plates. Wear clothes you can get dirty and closed-toe shoes. Entering grades 5-8.

Mythical Creatures — Art Camp

NEW CAMP! Each day you’ll discuss and learn about the lore behind mythical creatures from different parts of the world like dragons, mermaids and griffins! You will create individual projects based on each day’s creature using a mix of art techniques and materials such as paint, clay, oil pastels and paper collage. You will also get to collaborate with your fellow artists to create a unique camp mythical creature! Entering grades 1-4.

Figure Drawing Basics — Art Camp

NEW CAMP! Come learn the basics of figure drawing! You will learn about proportions of the human body through various techniques. You’ll also explore how to capture the body in motion with gesture and movement. The drawing skills in this camp will be applicable to any subject! Entering grades 5-8.

Art Around the World — Art Camp

Ready for the Spotlight! — Theater Camp

NEW CAMP! Get a broad overview of what goes into creating theater! In this fun, jam-packed camp, you will improvise, play theater games, write scripts, make props and a set, design costumes, talk about lighting and sound, explore ways of moving, and learn about acting! Exercises will be geared toward creating a short performance that you will present at the end of camp! Entering grades 1-4.

Anime & Manga Drawing — Art Camp

NEW CAMP! Join this new camp to learn the different techniques of the anime style and practice creating your own manga! Over the course of the camp, you will also learn how to convey a story and create unique characters. You will go through a variety of exercises that will stretch your creative process not only in visual arts but also in storytelling. Entering grades 5-8.

Let’s Dance! Exploration in Movement — Dance Camp

NEW CAMP! Join us to learn the basics of ballet, jazz, and modern dance! You’ll work on set choreography, but also have a chance to devise something of your own! Using physical theater and dance techniques, you will collaborate to create group movement. Camp will conclude with a short performance to show off all your hard work! Entering grades 1-4.

The Actor and the Director — Theater Camp

NEW CAMP! A play is all about revealing and interpreting the story for an audience.  You’ll explore and learn ways to bring life to your character, the characters around you, the scenes and the story. What can you learn about directing by acting?  What can you learn about acting by directing?  Come play with plays! Entering grades 5-9.

Funny Faces Drawing — Art Camp

NEW CAMP! Using colored pencils and markers, create a variety of creatures and critters! You’ll explore your imagination with creative exercises and learn how to start with a face then play with making it into whatever you can dream up! Entering grades 1-4.

Beyond the Selfie — Photography Camp

NEW CAMP! We’ve come a long way in photography. Now we hold a tool that allows us to capture our world in an instant and share it with anyone we want. Learn how to use that tool to take great photos and use apps on your phone to alter photos to make them even better. You will have a chance talk about making great compositions, finding meaningful subject matter and how to make that subject matter stand out. You’ll use different free apps that can be downloaded to a phone or tablet to edit and refine photos, make them works of art and go “beyond the selfie!” You will need to have access to a phone or tablet during classes. If you aren’t able to provide one please contact the Northfield Arts Guild for assistance in getting access. Entering grades 5-8.

Just Stitch It!- Fabrics & Thread Art Camp

NEW CAMP! This new camp is an introduction to creating mixed media pieces with fabrics, threads and yarns. You’ll be working with a wide variety of fabrics and learning the art of patchwork, fabric stamping/dyeing, sewing and many more crafts. Entering grades 1-4.

Expressive Painting — Art Camp

Creative Color Finger Painting — Arts Camp

NEW CAMP! Get hands on with painting – literally! Through creative exercises and your built-in painting tools – your fingers! – you will learn about painting, color theory and color mixing. Learn how to utilize your hands in art and creating original works from your imagination. Entering grades 1-4.

Making a Good Impression — Clay Camp

Using clay rollers and hand applications, you’ll add impressions of flowers, plants, textured impression plates, pasta, found objects and more to make unique pieces of art to display or give as gifts. You’ll do four days of textural experimentation then use the final day of camp for glazing before all pieces will be fired in the kiln. Entering grades 5-8.

Rhyme Time 2 — Clay Camp

Work on your hand-building techniques in the ceramic studio with new rhyming projects! You’ll create four sets of cute creatures and art for display, and on the final day all pieces will be glazed before firing in the kiln. Themes include: Tiny Hedgehogs and Adorable Dogs; Teddy Bears and Decorative Pears; Simple Vases and Our Own Faces; and Swirly Snails and Big Mouth Whales. Entering grades 1-4.

Upcycle It! — Art Camp

NEW CAMP! Have you ever had a great piece of clothing, but it just doesn’t fit right? Or It just doesn’t fit your style? Up-cycle it! Up-cycling is like recycling for clothes, but making them better. You will learn basics from altering a t-shirt by cutting and tying up, to hand sewing and machine sewing, and even dying your clothes. Take your wardrobe from basic to unique in just one week. You will need access to clothes you can alter, including old/oversized t-shirts, old jeans, dress shirts, dresses, pants, etc. So go through your donation bags and see what can find new life with just a little artistic effort!
