Dream Big

Some people have asked me “what was your inspiration for ‘dream big’?”

Well, to be honest, this piece is a message to my daughter.

My daughter was being picked on at school but she was hesitant to tell us about it and decided to ignore the situation but it didn’t make it go away it got worse. When we finally heard about the problem we had to explain to our daughter that being silent wasn’t good because it made her a “victim of circumstance”, but still she was silent, and read at home because she could escape into books.

I never knew that my daughter was stronger than I could ever hope to be.

There were other people being picked who were also afraid to speak up; my daughter has never hesitated in the defense of others. Only when we explained to her that others may be affected by her silence because if they witness other people being picked on, they may be afraid to come forward and speak for themselves. That’s when she decided to speak up and defend herself.

This is to let my daughter, Evy, know that when you feel like the world is against you, remember, don’t let small people stand in your way of happiness – “dream big”- you can beat dragons.

I love you, because you care for others more than you care for yourself but above all because you’re my daughter.

Stay strong, my little warrior princess.
