Join us for CVRO’s 40th Anniversary Season led by founding conductor Dr. Paul Niemisto
Cannon Valley Regional Orchestra opened the 40th Anniversary Season with Tribute, honoring the long history of the orchestra, the dedication of the many musicians, and the community of listeners.
Audiences will hear The Consecration of the House (overture) by Ludwig van Beethoven, Fidelitas Tribute to Joseph Lee Haywood by Daniel Kallman, narrated by Richard Collman, and Reformation Symphone by Felix Mendelssohn.

Sunday, October 27 at 3pm: St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls
During Northfield’s annual Winter Walk, brass players and cellists from CVRO performed a variety of holiday songs at Armory Square entitled Christmas Brass and Carol Sing. CVRO’s performance was part of a larger Holiday Market at Armory Square featuring local vendors. This was a free event.

Spring’s first CVRO concert was CVRO Favorites in early March. The orchestra was accompanied by the impressive church organ at both venues. Musical selections included Overture to the Magic Flute by Mozart, arias from Carmen by Bizet featuring contralto Deesa Staats, four dances from Copland’s Ballet Rodeo, movements from Handel’s Messiah featuring tenor Bryan Reed, and excerpts from Saint Saens’ Organ Symphony with organist Stephen May.

Sunday, March 8 at 3pm: United Methodist Church in Northfield
The final concert of the season will be a 40th Anniversary Celebration honoring CVRO’s incredible legacy and premiering a new commission. Audiences will hear the Candide Overture by Leonard Bernstein and the Sibelius Violin Concerto featuring soloist Francesca Andregg as well as a specially commissioned premiere by Northfield composer Reinaldo Moya called Sky-Tinted Water.
Originally scheduled for late April, this concert has been postponed to a later date to be determined. More information will be shared as new dates are decided.

Tickets at the door are cash or check only and can be purchased by credit card online or at the Northfield Arts Guild ahead of time. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
