  Venue:  Northfield Arts Guild Theater

Jerry Kosak is a guitarist living in Saint Paul, MN. His musical journey began over 35 years ago and continues to flourish, with the release of his third recording of original music for solo guitar, Yossarian’s Dream. In this new recording, Jerry’s music and playing continue to grow, displaying a dedication to his craft and a willingness to push himself to be the best musician he can be. Not content to reside within a single style, Jerry’s playing and composing are restless, moving from classical to roots and blues to modern progressive. His new music combines rhythmic drumming, grooving bass lines, and thoughtfully disjointed melodies, all performed by one guitarist on one guitar. His passion of listening, studying, and performing continues to produce “a great reflection of many different styles” according to Kevin Barnes of KBEM Jazz 88.

Pat Donohue is one of the most listened-to finger pickers in the world. As the guitarist for “Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band” of Minnesota Public Radio’s A Prairie Home Companion for twenty years, Pat got to show off his savvy licks and distinctive original songs to millions of listeners each week. Pat’s musical tastes are eclectic. Though he considers himself foremost a folk guitarist, Pat’s influences are rooted in bluesmen Blind Blake, Robert Johnson, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Muddy Waters and Miles Davis. He manages to blend jazz and blues with folk, and the mix is seamless. Over the years he has captivated audiences with his unique original compositions, dazzling instrumentals and humorous song parodies, including Sushi-Yucki and Would You Like to Play the Guitar?

Barbara Piper is a Minnesota-based musician whose influences span many decades and genres.  She considers herself a modern folk artist with an honest and whimsical edge to her writing.  She recently released her second solo album and she also fronts a classic country / blues band called Lone Rock.
